The very next biblical step for most new believers, especially from a Baptist perspective, is believer’s baptism by immersion. This beautiful act of obedience isn’t what saves you—salvation is by grace through faith alone—but it publicly declares your identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:3-4).

In a Baptist church, membership is far more than signing a card or joining a roster—it’s a covenant commitment to a local body of believers, reflecting the New Testament pattern of accountable, intentional fellowship. By becoming a member, you publicly affirm your faith in Christ, submit to the church’s biblical leadership and teaching, and pledge to support its mission through your prayers, presence, gifts, and service. 

Serving in a Church is a vital expression of gratitude for the grace we’ve received through Jesus Christ and a direct response to His call to love and serve one another. Scripture teaches that every believer is gifted by the Holy Spirit for the “common good” (1 Corinthians 12:7), and when we serve—whether through teaching a Bible study, welcoming visitors, leading worship, preparing meals for those in need, or joining community outreach—we actively build up the body of Christ, strengthen fellowship, and advance the gospel.
